The Hummer Difference

We offer the most comprehensive tour in the desert with a journey on the smoothest most capable vehicles in the area. OPEN AIR military Hummers are used for this tour to allow you a full sensory experience of the sights, sounds and smells of the Desert. All guides are trained in the geology, botany and the Indian history of this place. Unlike smaller four wheel drives, the Hummer provides comfort not otherwise possible. Our vehicles have forward facing comfortable bus benches with expert drivers trained by a National Park geologist. We are leaders in tours into Joshua Tree National Park and recommended as the Best Eco Tour of the Valley.

Great for all ages. We have taken everyone from 3 months to 103 years of age on this tour. The Hummer is absolutely the smoothest vehicle in the Desert terrain. Our vehicles are outfitted with comfortable seats with lots of legroom. Grandparents and children alike will have the a great time seeing and learning about our amazing desert. We follow a terrain that the Hummer was designed for. You'll see why the military upgraded to these amazing vehicles in 1985. We are also the leaders in tours into Joshua Tree National Park as the only daily tour that goes there. Let us show you the real desert Hummer style!

The San Andreas Fault Explorer - A 3 hour tour

The Joshua Tree Adventure - A 4 hour tour

This tour is our DELUXE TOUR that includes a spectacular journey into both our lower Desert (also known as the Colorado) as well as the high desert (also known as the Mojave Desert) where we enter Joshua Tree National Park. This tour includes everything in the San Andreas Fault Explorer PLUS a trip into Joshua Tree National Park. We climb over 2000 feet higher then where most other tours can go to the edge of an ancient volcanic summit where you can see all the way to Mexico.

No visit to Palm Springs is complete without a journey into Joshua Tree National Park which is located near the Palm Springs area. Our journey follows the Big Game Corridor into the National Park far away from the commotion of the city. Big Horn Sheep,
Golden Eagles and coyotes are some of the animals these tours have encountered on this "MUST DO" Adventure.

What is included:

1.) Begin with an adventure into the Canyons of the San Andreas Fault. Journey into canyons formed by the most powerful fault line in North America.

2.) Stop at the 3rd largest Oasis in the world to walk over the San Andreas Fault on a bridge. Water literally gurgles out of the ground.

3.) Step inside a cabin built by one of the first settlers of the area.

4.) Travel along an old goldmine trail that rises some 4000 feet above the desert floor.

5.) Travel into Joshua Tree National Park in the largest protected wilderness in the contiguous States!

6.) 1 hour is spent off the Hummer for optional walks and photos.

7.) All entrance fees to the Oasis and the National Park are included.

Daily departures every morning all year:
Oct to May: 8 am to 12 noon ; June to Sept: 7 am to 11 am
Daily Sunset Tours depart 4 hours prior to sundown.

Here is a sample of the Tours that Desert Adventures is proposing:

THE FAULTLINE ADVENTURE
Journey through a natural palm oasis, spectacular box and slot canyons, and an ancient fossil bed as your jeep winds its way through the incredible maze created by the San Andreas Fault. On your journey you will learn about the plants and animals that have uniquely adapted to survive in the desert. Your expert guide will also explain how earthquakes and tectonic forces created the slanted, vertical and wave-like structures that have been described as the most tortured landscape on earth. Tour includes interpretive displays and interactive demonstrations. Tour Length: 3 Hours Public Tour Departure Times September 16 - May 15: 8:00 AM or 1:00 PM Tours Offered: Daily

THE NIGHTWATCH ADVENTURE
The Nightwatch Adventure is a seasonal tour (offered May – September) that adds stargazing to our popular Faultline Adventure. This adventure begins before sunset as you explore steep-walled canyons, a natural palm oasis, and our EPICENTER Earthquake Education Center. As the sun sets, witness the spectacular transition from day to night as the light casts amazing shadows on the mountains and brings out colors seldom seen during the day. As the sky darkens, you will be treated to a fascinating journey through the night sky as our knowledgeable guides use laser lights to point out constellations, planets and stars, and our “Sky Scouts” identify objects in the night sky and entertain you with fascinating facts and the mythology attributed to them. Tour Length: 3 Hours Departure Time: Approximately 1-1.5 hours before sunset. Please call (888) 440-5337 Toll Free or (760) 340-2345 at least 72 hours before your tour to confirm the exact departure time. Offered May through September Only

THE JOSHUA TREE EXTREME ADVENTURE
A Double Desert Exploration!
Beginning below sea level, this back-country adventure travels rugged dirt trails up spectacular canyons and through desert washes, taking you through two deserts and the transition zone between two ecosystems.
Below 3,000 feet, the Colorado Desert encompasses the eastern part of the Joshua Tree National Park and features natural gardens of creosote, ocotillo, and cholla cactus.

The higher, moister, and cooler Mojave Desert is the special habitat of the Joshua tree. The rugged mountains of twisted rock and exposed granite monoliths testify to the tremendous forces that shaped and formed the desert landscape. Don’t forget your camera, as you will want to take pictures of the gigantic boulders, Joshua trees, yuccas, and other lush plant life that thrive in this area.

This is a great tour to beat the heat in the warmer months as temperatures up in Joshua Tree National Park are typically 10-15 degrees cooler than in the low desert. Tour Length: 4.5 Hours Departure Time: 7:00 AM Public Tours Offered: Wednesdays & Saturdays

In celebration of our 20th Anniversary, we are offering a discount of $20 per adult ($10 per child) off our public tour rates or $50 per jeep off our private jeep tour rates when you ask for the ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL.

You must book directly with Desert Adventures and ask for the Anniversary Special when you make your reservation to receive this discount.
